Beijing, China (FN), April 28 – Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, pledged to assist Cambodia on all sectors, particularly encourage more investors to Cambodia, speaking in a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and delegation to attend the Second Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, China on 28 April 2019.

“Cambodia is a good friend of China with mutual trust and confidence. China will assist Cambodia on its Rectangular Strategy Phase IV,” stated Premier Li.

“No issues will ever break China-Cambodia bonds, and that China will assist Cambodia on all sectors,” he underlined.

Prime Minister pledged before his counterpart that he will further conduct deep reforms to attain faster economic growth. He requested the Chinese side to solve wastewater issue in Sihanoukville through financing clean water and rural development projects to ensure Sihanoukville becomes the model province under the BRI.

For Cambodia, BRI has provided many benefits to economic-social-cultural development. The success of the development of the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, a huge investment project of China, is a clear evidence of the development cooperation plan under the BRI between the two countries.

Currently there are 161 companies in operation (including 148 Chinese companies), creating more than 200,000 jobs for Cambodians. The second phase of the development of the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone will create additional 800,000 jobs, according to Prime Minister.
