Tokyo, Japan (FN), May 31 - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen urged the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to encourage more Japanese investors to Cambodia, speaking in a bilateral meeting in Tokyo on Friday, according to delegate minister Kao Kim Hourn.
Prime Minister Hun Sen also urged Japan to continue assisting on demining sector in Cambodia, in particular to provide financial assistance to CMAC to carry out demining activities in three major provinces, including Battambang, Pailin, and Pursat, as mines continued to plague development in those areas.
"Abe welcomed the Japanese investment in Cambodia, and appreciated the government's measure to create enabling investment climate," delegate minister quoted Abe.
From 1994 to 2018, Japan has 137 investment projects in Cambodia, with total worth of USD 2,486 million. Japanese investment capital reached US$822 million in 2016, US$863 million in 2017, and US$883 million in 2018 respectively.
