Phnom Penh (FN), June 3 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen urged to speed up the process of transferring vehicles ownership, speaking Monday at the Royal University of Phnom Penh graduation ceremony at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center.

“All we need is to transfer from the last owner to the new owner,” said Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol and Director-General of Taxation Kong Vibol met on 27 May 2019 and came up with an online automation system to simplify the process of transferring ownership.

The current procedure on transferring the ownership of all kind of vehicles and transportation is complicated and takes a long time that people chose not to do. As a result, when crimes happen with certain vehicles, it caused problems to the owners and authority.

Nowadays, in order to transfer the ownership, the seller and buyer must go to Department of Public Work and Transport to request for documents of transferring ownership, then go to pay taxes, then come back to replace the ownership ID at the Department of Public Work and Transport.

According to Minister Sun Chanthol, the national online automation system for vehicle registration and transferring ownership will be ready soon, while the tax payment and the ownership ID replacement will be conducted at one place.
