Phnom Penh (FN), June 4 - Lao Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone praised Cambodia's peace and progress and requested Prime Minister Hun Sen to support Lao investments in Cambodia, speaking in a courtesy call on Tuesday morning at the Peace Palace Phnom Penh.

According to Premier’s personal secretary Eang Sophalleth, the Deputy Prime Minister of Lao PDR informed Prime Minister Hun Sen that his visit aims to learn from Cambodia to apply knowledge and experience on development in Laos after seeing Cambodia’s rapid economic growth, high-rise buildings, and better people's living standards.

Sonexay Siphandone also conveyed regards of Prime Minister of Lao PDR to the Premier.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed his gratitude to Sonexay Siphandone for the visit to Cambodia and urged Laos's BIC bank in Cambodia to provide loans to SMEs.

Regarding the energy sector, the Premier thanked the Lao side for this year's sale of electricity to Cambodia for usages in Kampong Thom and Preah Vihear provinces in the time of shortages.

Cambodian Prime Minister also recommended that Cambodia-Laos should further promote energy diplomacy, greater trade volume, and cooperation on tourism and culture.
