Sihanoukville (FN), June 29 - Minister of Interior Sar Kheng presented the five issues that are currently challenging the coast of Cambodia, Sihanoukville province, approximately 230 km west of the capital Phnom Penh.

The minister also urged for urgent resolutions to tackle the issues, speaking Saturday at the appointment ceremony of the new governor.

The five issues include, first, land conflict and management: as the land price surges, many conflicts arise; thus, the minister urged for peaceful resolution between all parties to avoid violence.

Second, construction quality: the minister urged for a careful examination on quality and safety of building, including fire issue.

Third, security of Koh Rong and the islands of Sihanoukville: number of tourists visiting islands increases steadily. In order to ensure the security, the minister urged authorities to strengthen their competency; three police officers at each target; and intervention force to intervene promptly as the situation unfolded.

Fourth, infrastructure: the booming of populations require better infrastructure.

Fifth, sewage and dumping water that requires the efforts from Ministry of Land Management and Construction; Ministry of Public Works and Transport; Ministry of Environment; and Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology and other stakeholders.
