Preah Vihear (FN), Aug. 29 - Cambodia and Laos prepared to withdraw forces from the three-angle Cambodia-Laos border area, following the negotiations of the two leaders, according to Cambodian commander stationed at the site on Thursday.
In the afternoon of 28 August 2019, General Srey Doek, Commander of Military Division 3 based at Preah Vihear, and Major General Duong Chan, the Commander of the 9th Intervention Brigade, met with the Lao side, led by Champasak army commander Sukai Phimmaksan, to negotiate to withdraw the troops.
After the talks concluded, Cambodia and Laos soldiers have a solidarity dinner to show good relations, cooperation, and traditions between the two countries.
According to the commander of the Lao army, the Lao side does not wish to start conflicts with Cambodia. He confirmed that the region is free from tensions, as the two countries’ soldiers often have meals together.
