Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 8 – The new US Ambassador to Cambodia W. Patrick Murphy stated Friday that he respects the role of the Royal Government of Cambodia and relevant ministries in ensuring the security and safety for their people.
His statement was made in a courtesy call on Cambodian Interior Minister Sar Kheng at the Ministry on Friday morning.
“We respect the role and the accountability of Ministry of Interior and the Royal Government in ensuring security for Cambodian and American people,” said Ambassador W. Patrick Murphy.
During the meeting, Murphy said the US and Cambodia commit to strengthen law enforcement to prevent wildlife trafficking and human trafficking; and promote child protection and combat against transnational crimes.
Minister Sar Kheng pledged to work with the US on security sector and thanked the US Government for wishing Cambodia on Independence Day, 9 November.
Minister Kheng recommended the two sides to explore programs to further strengthen the long-term Cambodia-US relations on the 70th Anniversary of the Cambodia-US relations.
