Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 28 – A horological vocational training centre was launched on Nov. 25 providing watch repair skill to Cambodian youth interested in the field.

Sponsored by Prince Real Estate Group – an international firm with operations in a wide range of industries – the centre is located in the building of Fujian General Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia in Chroy Changvar area.

Ek Butha, a deputy director general at the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, said in the official launching ceremony that the horological vocational training centre will play a vital role in providing skill to Cambodian youth making them capable to work in the horological manufacturing sector in Cambodia.

Mr. Qui Guoxing, executive chairperson of the Prince Real Estate Group and Head of the Fujian General Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia echoed the deputy director general, adding that the vocational skill will contribute to attracting horological investment in Cambodia.

He added that Cambodia still has a large workforce of young people working in the industry compared to its neighbours, so the presence of a Swiss-based vocational training center could make a significant contribution.

In order to expand the capacity of the domestic workforce, this could lead to greater investment in the industry. This is because Cambodia has a lot of professionals and labor costs are low.
