Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 5 – Oknha Pung Khiev Se, Chairman of the Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC), on Thursday, stated that the construction of the new Phnom Penh International Airport, located in Kandal and Takeo provinces, expects to finish by 2023.

His statement was made at the 8th Annual Meeting of Cambodia Constructors Association and the opening ceremony of Construction Fair 2019, held from 5-7 December 2019 at Diamond Island, Phnom Penh.

"The construction is processing; we have not faced many obstacles with landowners, and I believe that we can finish by 2023,” said Oknha Pung Khiev Se.

The new airport project was announced on 11 January 2018 during a signing ceremony of investment project between Pung Khiev Se and Chinese company, presided over by Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

The new 4F type airport, capable of accommodating Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-800, costs around USD 1.5 million, in which USD 1.1 million is the loan from foreign bank, and USD 280 million is the capital of OCIC; the rest 10 percent is from the Royal Government.
