Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 23 – Cambodian Minister of Health Mam Bun Heng, on Sunday, thanked the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US-CDC), for confirming that the 83-year old Westerdam passenger never had coronavirus.

“I would like to thank Richard Quartarone, spokeswoman for the US Centers for Disease Control (US-CDC), for saying that an 83-year-old American never had coronavirus,” Mam Bun Heng said.

“After chaos for a cruise ship of passengers and crew, an 83-year-old American woman who was said to have tested positive for coronavirus in Malaysia [never had coronavirus to our knowledge],” US-CDC told USA Today on late Friday.

"I have confirmed that all the passengers were tested, and they have come back negative for coronavirus, including the person who initially tested positive," said CDC spokesperson Richard Quartarone. He added that the hospitalised woman "may have had a respiratory illness, but if she did, it was not COVID-19."
