Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 2 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said that Covid-19 outbreak affects tourism industry the most, speaking at a graduation ceremony on Monday at the National Institute of Education.

To curb the declining number of tourists visiting Cambodia, prime minister called on the one million Cambodian tourists to visit local tourist sites instead of travelling oversea.

“I would like call on our people to divert their attention to visit local tourist destinations in Cambodia [instead of travelling oversea],”stated the premier.

He also urged Cambodian people to seek tour guide service when visiting Angkor Archaeological Park in order to understand Cambodia’s history; and to promote job opportunities for tour guides and companies.

It is worth recalling that the deadly coronavirus epidemic will cost the tourism world at least USD 22 billion owing to a drop in spending by Chinese tourists, the head of the World Travel and Tourism Council said on Thursday (Feb 27), according to CNA.
