Sihanoukville (FN), Mar. 10 – As scheduled, the first cargo of raw materials from China arrived Sihanoukville port in late night of 9 March 2020.

According to the port authority, SITC Fujian, carrying raw materials from China for the garment sector, docked at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port at 11:25 pm on 9 March 2020.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen announced that the Chinese Government will send seven ships of raw materials to the Kingdom amid the Covid-19 as some factories in Cambodia have been forced to suspend work due to lack of raw materials.

“As an ironclad friend, China is quickly taking steps to help resolve Cambodia's textile raw material shortages. Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia Wu Guoquan said that staying together through think and thin are the core element of Cambodia-China Community of Shared Future,” the Chinese Embassy wrote on its Facebook page on 9 March.

Counsellor Wu Guoquan said that with the joint support of the Chinese and Cambodian governments and the efforts of related enterprises, China's textile raw materials will be delivered to Cambodia's factories as quickly as possible and Cambodia’s risks will be minimised.
