Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 12 – Responding to increasing demand for high quality English language teaching services, the Australian Centre for Education (ACE) is opening a new campus to serve those in Chak Angre, Chbar Ampov, Ta Khmao and nearby neighbourhoods.

The new campus is located at building 786 along National Road 2, in Chak Angre bordering Ta Khmao town. Teachers and students have chosen to name the new campus ‘ACE Ta Khmao’ as it will cater predominantly to students from the Ta Khmao area, according to ACE Principal Mr. Ashley Irving at the ACE Graduation Ceremony.

“ACE was named among the best four language educators globally at the Pioneer Awards Ceremony in London, in 2018. This reflects our on-going investment into improving quality and our commitment to education excellence,” Ashley added.

“With English as the main language for education and business, I appreciate the role ACE plays in building the English language proficiency of our Cambodian students. To better prepare them for the future and to be internationally competitive, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport has introduced English language classes from primary level within our national education system,” said Minister Dr Hang Chuon Naron when opening the CamTESOL English language teaching conference in February 2020.

At the celebration of IDP and ACE’s 25th anniversary in Cambodia, during the 3rd Global Alumni Convention, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation HE Prak Sokhonn also stressed the importance of education and the international exposure Cambodian graduates bring back to develop Cambodia.

“I am proud to acknowledge the important role that our fellow Cambodian alumni have made in terms of their various contributions in our nation building process. From access to countries across the globe, they have brought home their hard-earned knowledge and work experience. Their precious networks have created multiplier effects and made positive changes to the lives of our people. The Royal Government is pleased and gratified to have many of them at the frontline marching to the same tune, all for the noble goal of transforming their homeland into a place where they can be proud to raise their own children,” said HE Prak Sokhonn in his official opening speech at the GAC hosted by IDP.

“The Global Alumni Convention is in fact supporting the Royal Government in this generation’s nurturing process. Once again, I applaud the organizers, especially IDP and ACE, for the excellent arrangements, and congratulations on your 25th anniversary in Cambodia this year,” he added.

Australian Ambassador to Cambodia Pablo Kang at ACE Tuol Tom Poung Campus in January 2020 stated that “Institutions founded by Australia, including the Australian Centre for Education, have played a pivotal role in promoting and providing English language training in Cambodia. For over 28 years, the Australian Centre for Education has equipped Cambodians with the English they need for their jobs or studies abroad, including in Australia. I’m very pleased to witness the growth of the Australian Centre for Education in Cambodia, including the opening of a new campus in Ta Khmao.”

“Over my 20 years at IDP Education and ACE, there have been some exciting milestones. Opening ACE Ta Khmao campus is definitely one of those. This new campus enables us to provide quality education to even more students and help them realise their individual dreams for the future by connecting them to international education opportunities”, said Mao Sreng, Country Director of IDP Education and ACE. “ACE Ta Khmao campus is going the be the sixth and largest ACE campus in Cambodia, equipped with world-class facilities and the latest education technology to improve students’ learning outcomes and experience,” echoed ACE Country Director Mao Sreng.

ACE was established in 1992 by IDP Education nationally to provide English language teaching services to those working with the United Nations peace keeping forces (UNTAC) in preparation for the first general election in Cambodia in 1993. ACE later made their services available to the general public, and also provided English language classes to thousands of Cambodian government officials as part of the Australian government human resource development assistance to Cambodia between 1994 to 2002, in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, Sihanoukville and Battambang.
