Phnom Penh (FN), May 30 – UNDP Cambodia expressed condolences to the family Sor Savy, a peacekeeper on duty in Mali, who died yesterday from Covid-19.

“On the International Day of UN Peacekeepers, we remember all of Cambodian service personnel who have laid down their lives while on peacekeeping missions. In particularly, our sincere condolences go to the family of H.E. Sor Savy, who died yesterday from the #COVID19 in Mali,” UNDP wrote on Facebook on Saturday.

Major General Sor Savy was one among the three Cambodian peacekeepers tested positive on 24 April 2020; the trio were sent to a hospital in Bamako under intensive care and treatment by the UN medical team. Two other peacekeepers recovered on 4 May 2020.
