Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 11 – In addition to its traditional diplomacy, Cambodia has recently introduced a concept of modern diplomacy with a major focus on economic diplomacy and economic security.

Economic diversification and international integration are essential to Cambodia's national development. This small state has adopted a two-pronged approach for international integration and has embraced multilateralism and a rules-based international order.

Dr. Chheang Vannarith, president of the Asian Vision Institute, argued that there are no better alternatives for Cambodia than building national resilience while promoting international integration.

“Reforming at home and making friends abroad based on the spirit of independence” should be the guiding governance philosophy for the Kingdom to move forward. Leadership and institutional capacity matter the most on this reform path.
