Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 1 – Within the first seven months of 2020, Cambodia exported 426,073 tons of rice, an increase of 38.3 percent, compared to the same period last year, according to the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Veng Sakhon.

In term of market destinations,  the Cambodian rice exports to European Union and England increased by 37.7 percent; to China increased by 26 percent; to ASEAN member countries increased by 44 percent; and to other markets increased by 72.4 percent.

Nearly 1.1 million tons of rice was exported to Vietnam from January to July 2020.

According to the same report, in June 2020, Cambodia exported 13,566 tonnes to EU, an equivalent to 33 percent of total Cambodia's export market; and exported 11,124 tonnes to China, 27 percent of the market share. ASEAN and other market destinations accounts for 40 percent or 16,873 tonnes. In total, Cambodia's rice export revenue for June 2020 is approximately USD 23.7 million.
