Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 30 – Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim together with Madam Masdiana Mohamad, Chairperson of PERWAKILAN (the Malaysian Diplomats’ Spouses Association), on Tuesday, led embassy officials and staff, PERWAKILAN members to visit the Sacrifice Families and Orphans Development Association Centre (SFODA) in Phnom Penh.

Ambassador Eldeen and the entire delegation spent time with the wonderful kids, learning about their daily activities and teaching them a few Malaysian traditional games, followed by handing out donations of food (rice, fish sauce, snacks and others), bedding items, toiletry items, sports equipment, reusable face masks and other essential items for the centre’s 46 orphaned children.

Ambassador Eldeen also presented gifts, lunch (courtesy of KFC) and cake as a birthday treat for all of the children, and undertaken some repair works to the centre.

Under the umbrella of the Embassy’s We Care, We Share programme, the SFODA visit is the continuation of the Embassy’s efforts to show support and solidarity to the Cambodian government and people, especially in the collective fight against COVID19.

Ambassador Eldeen said he decided to visit SFODA because these less fortunate children are already facing difficulties without the love and care of their biological parents. Their difficulties are obviously compounded with the COVID19 uncertainty.

“Everyone deserves a fair chance in life. We hope our small effort would assist in alleviating their plight and provide them with a comfortable and conducive environment to realise their full potential. We also sends a positive message to the children that even without biological parents, there will always be someone who cares for them,” the ambassador underlined.

Embassy of Malaysia expressed its profound appreciation to SFODA for their selfless work in looking after those wonderful children; and thanked PDT, KFC, THADA, Ramatex, Maybank, Almond Group, Minamas Bakery, BritCham, Khmer Times, and many other companies and individuals for their selfless dedication and generous donation. A special token of appreciation goes to MBCC for coordinating to help these special children.
