Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 7 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen announced on Wednesday his approval to build three more roads in Kampot province under loans from the Chinese government, addressing on Wednesday at the grand opening of the Chinese-firm Prince Manor Entertainment Center in Kandal’s Kien Svay district with a participation of Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian.

The premier also stressed that all the road construction sites are still operating normally even amidst COVID19 crisis. The development of infrastructure has made it easy for people to travel and do businesses.
The premier thanked the Chinese government for helping to build roads and bridges in Cambodia.

The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia has stated that as of 2019, China has helped Cambodia build 31 roads and eight bridges with a total length of more than 3,000 kilometers. Most of China's aid is in the form of concessional loans, focused on economic infrastructure, such as roads, energy and agriculture.

During a meeting between Prime Minister Hun Sen and President Xi Jinping in Beijing in January 2019, the Chinese side pledged USD 587.6 million in aid for the next three years.
