Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 13 – The General Secretariat of the National Council for Sustainable Development (GSSD) said it has successfully submitted the Cambodia's Updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) report to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on 31 December 2020.

“Although Cambodia is a low contributor to global GHG emissions, through her updated NDC, the country commits to continue her efforts with the international community to reduce GHG emissions and improve adaptive capacity of the country based on her resources towards climate-resilient, low carbon and sustainable modes of development. The estimated total emissions reduction by 2030 under the updated NDC scenario is expected to be approximately 64.6 million tСO2eq/year (41.7%).”

The GSSD/ MoE will conduct a press conference and launch the NDC update during the first week of February. The exact date will be announced later.
