Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 18 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has requested India to aid COVID19 vaccines.

The request was made in a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of India to Cambodia Devyani Uttamkhobragade on Monday morning at the Peace Palace Phnom Penh.

India expects to begin vaccination in 2021, which aims to reach 300 million people by early August.

In a separate article, the BBC wrote “India has formally approved the emergency use of two COVID19 vaccines, which Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it "a decisive turning point".

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen announced Friday that the Chinese government has provided 1 million doses of COVID19 vaccines to the Royal Government of Cambodia to vaccinate 500,000 people.

The premier said he will be the first in the Kingdom to be vaccinated when the China-aided vaccines are delivered to the Kingdom.

Cambodia’s COVID19 cases rise sharply as the cluster of Cambodia’s migrant worker returning from Thailand climbed to 69 positive cases. To date, Cambodia has confirmed 439 cases of COVID19 with 386 recoveries and no death.
