Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 19 – Secretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Or Vandine said Tuesday that China will deliver 300,000 doses of COVID19 vaccines to Cambodia in February.

"China's Sinopharm says its COVID19 vaccine has an efficacy rate of 79.3 percent, and has been submitted to the World Health Organization (WHO) to be reviewed and approved in the near future," Vandine told Fresh News in an interview on Tuesday.

"Over 220 million doses of Sinopharm vaccines have been used in many countries around the world, including Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Europe," she added.

Vandine also confirmed that China's Sinopharm COVID19 vaccines have not caused any post-injection problems so far.

According to the spokesperson, Cambodia Health Minister Mam Bunheng has requested the Chinese government to send technical experts to assist the Kingdom in vaccination process.

“COVID19 vaccines prove the fruitful result of the good relations between Cambodia and China under the leadership of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen,” Vandine underlined.

Premier Hun Sen announced Friday that the Chinese government announced to provide 1 million doses of COVID19 vaccines to inoculate 500,000 people.

The premier said he will be the first in the Kingdom to be vaccinated when the China-aided vaccines are delivered to the Kingdom.

Cambodia’s COVID19 cases rise sharply as the cluster of Cambodia’s migrant worker returning from Thailand climbed to 69 positive cases. To date, Cambodia has confirmed 441 cases of COVID19 with 386 recoveries and no death.
