Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 21 – Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Cambodia Anatoly Borovik, on Thursday, held a meeting with Fresh News Founder and CEO Lim Chea Vutha at the Ambassador Residence in Phnom Penh.

During the meeting, the ambassador and the CEO exchanged views on how both governments combat COVID19.

Both parties reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening Cambodia-Russia media cooperation; exploring ways to further strengthen Russia’s contributions to the Kingdom’s development and economic growth; and highlighting the activities of Cambodia Russia bilateral and multilateral coordination in the regional and international platforms.

The ambassador told Fresh News CEO that Russia has always respect Cambodia’s sovereignty and the principle of non-interferences in the internal affairs.

Ambassador highly commended the leadership of the Royal Government headed by Prime Minister Hun Sen in contributing to peacekeeping missions under the United Nations framework, combating COVID19, receiving the Westerdam cruise, donating masks and medical supplies to countries in needs.

“All of these actions have shown that [Cambodia is a small country with big heart],” Anatoly Borovik said.

The CEO informed the ambassador the significant roles Fresh News play in fighting fake news and countering falsified information created by the ill-intended group to cause social unrest in the Kingdom so they can snatch the power during the chaos.

“Fresh News has not only provided information and news to the public on a timely manner, but has also contributed to safeguarding peace and political stability as well as economic development by promoting Cambodia’s tourism, agriculture and glorious culture,” Lim Chea Vutha underlined.

Both sides are confident that the Russian-Cambodian ties would continue to grow stronger and produce greater achievements both nationally and globally.

Cambodia and Russia established the diplomatic relations on 13 May 1956. Relations between the two countries have been great for 64 years. This year, 2021, will be the 65th anniversary of Cambodia-Russia diplomatic ties.
