Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 12 - On February 11, 2021, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was mutually signed between Techo Startup Center and Huawei Technologies (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., with the main purpose of establishing the collaborative startup’s ecosystem and technological structure in Cambodia.
The MoU was signed by H.E. Dr. Nguonly Taing, Executive Director of Techo Startup Center, and Charles Che, Deputy CEO of Huawei Cambodia. Huawei aims to provide technical assistance such as Cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Techo Startup Center (TSC) in order to support TSC and its programs in developing Digitalization and AI solutions for its end users. The two signatories intend to establish a cooperation pattern on the irregular exchange of visits to share market information, industry trends, technological innovations, and corporate culture as required.
H.E. Dr. Nguonly Taing emphasized: “Before this MoU on the Cloud and AI solution, TSC team already tried AI’s facial recognition service provided by Huawei and other well-known tech companies. We are able to see the strong capability of Huawei with its cutting-edge technology as its facial recognition service provides higher accuracy compared to other tech companies’ services. In addition, Huawei also has the Face Liveness Detection that outstands its competitors.” He continued “With qualified and competitive cloud solution provided by Huawei to TSC, through this MoU, the selected teams in our Reverse Innovation program will be given a better opportunity to test and develop their Proof-of-Concept/Minimum Viable Products efficiently by using that cloud solution. Furthermore, the support and technology assistance provided by Huawei including Cloud, Internet of Things (IOT), Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) will also enhance and broaden TSC’s team capability as well as accelerate TSC to reach the goal faster.”
Charles Che mentioned that ICT technologies are being applied in various industries to improve digitalization and applications, especially cloud technologies. Cambodia's young startup people are full of surprising passion and creative innovation. Emerging technologies, such as AI, IoT, Big Data, and 5G, provide more technical options and possibilities for young people to succeed in entrepreneurship. Huawei has been serving Cambodian customers for 21 years. Global vision and localization teams could better serve and help startups and innovators succeed faster and better. “We look forward to the cooperation with TSC and believe that with the joint efforts of both sides, the new technology can be widely and deeply applied in Cambodia; it is a Tech4all,” he added.
