Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 17 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said that Cambodia has a surplus of six million tons of rice per year, urging the Philippines to invest in Cambodia’s milled rice, the construction of rice warehouses, and the exports of Cambodian rice to the Philippines.

The premier spoke in a courtesy call from the Filipino Ambassador to Cambodia Maria Amelita C. Aquino on Wednesday morning at the Peace Palace.

"We should look at the existing potentials in our region, rather than the faraway one, so that we can take advantage of that potential and fulfill each other’s needs,” said the premier.

Ambassador Maria conveyed regards from President of the Philippines to Premier Hun Sen and praised the wise leadership the Royal Government of Cambodia for successfully preventing the spread of COVID19 in the Kingdom.

She also pledged to expand and strengthen Cambodia-Philippines cooperation, especially in trade, economy and investment under the framework of ASEAN and ASEM.

Prime Minister Hun Sen conveyed regards to president of the Philippines and wished the ambassador continued success.
