Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 2 – The 324,000 doses of WHO-aided COVID19 vaccine licensed to the Serum Institute of India (SII) known as COVISHIELD arrived Cambodia at 7 p.m on Tuesday.

The packages were welcomed by Cambodian Health Minister Mam Bunheng, WHO representative Dr. Li Ailan and UNICEF representative Ms. Foroogh Foyouzat at Phnom Penh International Airport.

Cambodia is among the first countries in the Western Pacific Region to receive vaccines from COVAX Facility, according to the Ministry of Health.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife Bun Rany announced to get AstraZeneca vaccine on 4 March 2021 at 8:30 a.m at Calmette Hospital, accompanied by a press conference.

To date, Cambodia has confirmed 844 cases of COVID19 with 478 recoveries and no death.
