Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 26 – The Royal Government of Cambodia considered purchasing an additional 4 million doses of Sinovac vaccine from China, according to Health Ministry’s Secretary of State Youk Sambath on Friday morning.

Youk Sambath spoke at the COVID19 vaccine welcoming ceremony presided over by Vongsey Visoth, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian.

The 1.5 million doses of China’s Sinovac vaccines purchased by the Cambodian government arrived in the Kingdom at 10:30 a.m. today at Phnom Penh International Airport.

Cambodia received 600,000 doses of China-aided Sinopharm vaccine on 7 February 2021 and 324,000 doses of WHO-aided COVISHIELD vaccine on 2 March 2021.

The 700,000 doses of the China-aided Sinopharm vaccine will arrive in Cambodia in late March as 400,000 doses will be sent to Ministry of Health and another 300,000 doses to Ministry of National Defense.
