Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 1 — The Government of Japan provided approximately $1 million to Cambodia through UNICEF Cambodia to support COVID19 vaccination campaign and to improve the Kingdom’s cold chain management of COVID19 vaccines, according to the press release of the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia seen by Fresh News today.

The contribution will support the national vaccination campaign as well as increase the capacity of the cooling system through the provision of infrastructure, transportation and training of health officials.

“UNICEF is very grateful to the Government of Japan for its recent donation to UNICEF to improve Cambodia's cold chain management. “Cold chain" transportation allows COVID-19 vaccines to remain refrigerated and effective as they are transported. Japan's support will allow us to protect many Cambodians in the year ahead,” stated Foroogh Foyouzat, UNICEF Representative to Cambodia.
