Phnom Penh (FN), May 8 – a Cambodia Airways’ Airbus A319 aircraft carried 2.7 tons Covid-19 rapid detection reagent took off from Changi International Airport, Singapore, and returned to Phnom Penh safely at 17:15pm. The passenger-to-cargo conversion flight has saved precious time for Cambodia's anti-epidemic and epidemic prevention efforts and also contributed significantly to the health screening works to the Cambodian population.

To support the current initiatives and measures implemented by the Cambodian government in prevention of the spread of the epidemic, Cambodia Airways made its response promptly by gathering our experts to deliberately work on the arrangement of flight schedule, analyzing and discussing the solutions on handling of these special medical cargoes in order to ensure the cargo to be transported smoothly within the specifically required humidity, temperature, stability as well as special allocated, isolated space.

The involved authorities are including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, the Cambodian State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Singapore, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), the Singapore Changi Airport and its cargo terminal, have given strong supports to Cambodia Airways in carrying out this special mission. The professionalism and capability of Cambodia Airways have been once again well-recognized. Through this special mission, we also established a more solid experience to cater for any future cargo transportation of similar nature.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Cambodia Airways has been appointed three times in a row, shouldering up important responsibilities and achieving the specific mission. We completed the transportation of these shipments, despite of a very short preparation time, the mission has been completed professionally and in high satisfactory. As the wings of Cambodia, Cambodia Airways always upholds the enthusiasm of serving the Cambodian citizens as well as the government. We continue to contribute our efforts to the prevention of spreading and control of the pandemic.
