Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 9 – Officials of the Russian diplomatic mission in Cambodia, headed by Ambassador Anatoly Borovik, paid a visit to the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital on Wednesday within a humanitarian move.

During the handover ceremony, the medical protective equipment, including filtering masks, medical suits and gloves, were conveyed to Dr. Ngy Meng, director of the aforementioned hospital.

Ambassador Anatoly Borovik noted that the Hospital continues to serve with dignity in the interests of the Cambodian people, make an invaluable contribution to the common endeavor of combating the COVID19 pandemic.

The history of the Hospital began in 1957, when the bilateral agreement on handing over this institution as a gift from the Government and the people of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) to the Government and the people of Cambodia was signed. The ceremony of laying down the Hospital took place in 1958, with its functioning started in 1963.
