Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 26 – Secretary of state of Ministry of Economy Vongsey Visoth said on Saturday morning that Cambodia can maintain good economic growth in the first five months of 2021, fueled by exports despite the community transmission.

"Exports in the last five months reflected that Cambodia is strong as the exports of goods achieved 17 percent increase,” he said.

In the first five months of 2021, garment exports were similar to the same period last year. However, non-garment items such as electronic components, bicycles, agricultural products, and others increased by 52 percent, reflecting the economic diversification in the context of COVID19. However, two sectors, tourism and retails, are facing crisis.

To cope with impacted families, Cambodian government has spent USD 350 million on cash relief programs for poor and vulnerable households during COVID19 for more than 600,000 families.
