Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 5 — In the first semester 2021, Cambodia exported the milled-rice to 49 destinations with the volume 280,450 metric ton, and values USD 202 million, according to a report seen by Fresh News on Monday.

It dropped 29 per cent comparing to the same period in 2020, but this volumes of 2021 is almost same as volumes exported in the first six months of year 2017, 2018 and 2019, and the total value of exports also dropped 23.7 percent from USD 265 million in 2020 down to USD 202 million.

The major challenges of these decreasing were lacking of containers and increasing of freight cost, it affected the orders of premium fragrant rice mainly to EU markets and the dropped selling price (FOB) from averagely USD 900 in year 2020 to USD 730 per metric ton.
