Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 1 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that Cambodia has vaccinated more than 7.3 million people, an equivalent to 72% completion of vaccination program.

His remarks came after the former leader of the dissolved opposition accused Chinese COVID19 vaccines of causing deaths or disabilities.

The premier underlined that the successful launch of the vaccination campaign in Cambodia exceeded the expected plan due to two factors. First, sufficient and highly responsible human resources for the vaccination process, and secondly Cambodian people shower huge support for the government’s measures.

"Many medical teams volunteer to join the program, while the sub-national leaders of all institutions create their own sub-committees, responsible for overseeing the preparation and the operation of the vaccination. People participate both in getting vaccinated and fundraising for the government to buy vaccines," the premier said.

"Citizen participation is a great sign; it feels like we are winning a referendum”, the premier continued.

According to the premier, Cambodia will have up to more than 26.5 million doses of COVID19 vaccine for nationwide distribution.
