Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 1 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen instructed head of vaccination committee Or Vandine to vaccinate indigenous people in Cambodia with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Samdech wants the ethnic minorities in Stung Treng, Ratanakkiri, Preah Vihear and other ethnic areas to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine as it requires only one dose, for it is convenient in terms of transportation and for the health officials to travel far only once.

"It is not possible to find 1 million indigenous people. We also consider Cambodian workers returning from Thailand," the premier added.

Through COVAX Facility, the United States announced to donate 1 million doses of vaccine to Cambodia. The first shipment of 500,000 doses of the US-aided Johnson & Johnson vaccine arrived Cambodia on 30 July 2021. The second shipment expects to arrive on 2 August 2021.
