Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 5 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen announced to use UK-aided 415,000 doses of AstraZeneca as a booster shot, speaking at the handover ceremony of AstraZeneca vaccine donated by the government and people of the UK, held on Thursday at Phnom Penh International Airport.

Recently, the premier announced the decision to roll out the third dose to all prioritized group and use AstraZeneca vaccine as a booster shot.

Samdech advised the distribution of the AstraZeneca vaccine to those frontliners at the Cambodian-Thai border, where the new COVID19 Delta variant is spreading. Journalists should be prioritized to receive the booster shot, which is approximately 500,000 to 1 million people, the premier underlined.

So far, Cambodia has received 3.2 million doses of China-aided COVID19 vaccine, 1 million doses of Japan-aided vaccine, and 415,000 doses of the UK-aided vaccine. Cambodia has also received 1,384,100 doses of COVID19 vaccine from the COVAX Facility.
