Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 12 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said think-tanks have an important role in promoting peacekeeping activities, addressing at the 7th World Rally of Hope: Think-Tank 2022, under the theme “Peace in the Asia-Pacific”, held on Sunday via video conference.

“I am of the view that think-tanks have an important role in contributing to crisis-resolution and promoting peacekeeping activities through in-depth analysis and cultivation the spirits of exchange of views and dialogues,” he said.

“Think-tanks must attach high priority to realism with constructive spirit and avoidance of extremism as well as to promote the principle of mutual understanding and the value to diversity in the study, analysis and policy recommendations in the cause of seeking and maintaining peace, particularly ensuring inclusive development for humankind,” he added.

The Think Tank 2022 Asia-Pacific Secretariat was launched on the occasion of the Think Tank 2022 Rally of Hope on 12 September 2021, with the Asian Vision Institute serving as the host of the Secretariat. It aims to promote and facilitate peace, dialogue, mediation, and the strengthening of the ecosystem of peace in the Asia Pacific region.
