Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 17 – Three million doses of Sinovac vaccine, which Cambodian government purchased from China, will arrive the Kingdom on 24 September, while another three million doses on 26 or 27 September 2021.

Cambodia will receive additional three million doses of vaccine as Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi promised to donate to Cambodia during his official visit. The premier expects the vaccine to arrive soon.

The premier announced at a press conference held on Friday morning at the Peace Palace.

"Vaccine is not a problem. We have at least 9 million doses of vaccine on hand for the third dose. So far, the booster doses have been administered to more than 800,000 people”, said the premier.

Samdech also hoped to receive donations from Australia, who promised to continue to help Cambodia through donations of 2.3 million doses of COVID19 vaccine.

As of 16 September, Cambodia has inoculated more than 98 percent of its target 10 million adults, and 87.5 percent for children aged 12 to under 18 years old.

Cambodia has so far vaccinated over 72 percent of the total population. Cambodian government plans to build a strong herd immunity by fully vaccinating up to 91 percent of the total population of 16 million.
