Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 25 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen addressed in a voice message on Saturday morning, asking for the understanding of his compatriots for suspension of Pchum Ben festivals.

The premier said saving lives is the most important thing and by staying alive, people will have more time to celebrate the festivals and do good deeds.

Celebrating Pchum Ben amidst the pandemic will push Cambodia to have higher risks of COVID19 infection, especially the Delta community transmission, the premier warned.

"It will be a disaster for public health and the lives of the people," he underlined.

As a leader, Samdech could not stand watching the catastrophe to the lives of the people due to negligence.
