Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 29 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said he already received the request letter from ex-CNRP members to drop charges, speaking in an exclusive interview with Fresh News CEO Lim Chea Vutha.

The premier assigned minister of justice Koeut Rith to seek justice for the 10 ex-CNRP members.

The move came after Yim Sinorn, former youth president of the court-dissolved Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) in South Korea, wrote a letter requesting for Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen’s intervention to drop charges against him and his accomplices.

Sinorn wrote in his letter that the premier has recently intervened to drop charge against political analyst and professor Seng Sary, which was a wise move supported by the national and international public.

According to the letter addressed to the premier seen by Fresh News on Wednesday, Yim Sinorn said he and other former members used to lead a nonviolent demonstration. However, they did not support the “9 November repatriation movement” launched by Sam Rainsy.

Sinorn said Rainsy’s movement incited for hatred against the king and called on armed forces to launch coup against the legitimate government.

“For the above reasons, we were attacked by extremists of the court-dissolved CNRP. We were accused of joining the movement, which led Cambodian authority to issue arrest warrants against us,” Sinorn wrote.
