Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 6 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen ordered the minister of justice Koeut Rith to study the amendments of the Constitution and related laws to determine that the Kingdom’s premier, the president of the National Assembly, the president of the Senate and the president of the Constitutional Council must hold a single Cambodian citizenship.

"In order to show loyalty to the nation and to avoid foreign interferences, the national leaders who serve as the president of the Senate, the president of the National Assembly, the prime minister and president of the Constitutional Council must have a single Cambodian citizenship," the premier wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

The premier's statement came after former opposition leader Sam Rainsy accused the premier of obtaining citizenship from Cyprus.
