Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 12 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said after the law to determine a single citizenship for Cambodian top leaders amended, Cambodian people of two or more citizenships can still take part in serving the nation, except for the top four positions.
The premier wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
“The constitutional amendment procedure will not take long. The amendment will serve long-term interests for the nation. If they love the nation, they are not afraid to give up the foreign citizenship to be Cambodian prime minster, the president of the National Assembly, the president of the Senate and the president of the Constitutional Council,” the premier wrote.
The draft law on the constitutional amendment and related laws to determine a single citizenship for Cambodian top leaders has been approved by the Council of Ministers on 8 October and is submitted to the National Assembly for review.
