Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 21 – On 15 October 2021, H.E. Choup Paris, CEO of General Department of Environmental Knowledge and Information, Ministry of Environment, and several other team members visited Huawei Customer Solution Innovation & Integration Experience Center (CSIC) to discuss the potential collaboration on environmental protection and usage of green energy.

H.E. Choup Paris, who represented MOE, shared his thoughts on carbon strategy in Cambodia, summarizing 3 strategic pillars of environment protection in Cambodia: Natural Resource Management (NRM), Environmental Protection and Sustainable living. He emphasized that forest becomes the game changer. In this era, as carbon credit becoming hot topic globally, it may allow Cambodia to stand on the international stage, bringing income by allowing big companies to emit a certain amount of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases. H.E. Choup Paris also revealed the carbon strategy used by MOE, which is Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD+). REDD+ was firstly introduced by United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), while there are 2 REDD+ project ongoing in Cambodia.

Mr. Dong Yuan Peng, director of public affair Huawei Cambodia, gave a brief introduction on Huawei and Huawei Cambodia. Founded in 1987, Huawei is a leading global provider of ICT and smart devices. We have more than 197,000 employees, and operate in more than 170 countries. Huawei started business in Cambodia since 1999, serve the Kingdom more than 22 years. We keep on putting resources for cultivating young generation, to fulfil on the corporate social responsibility in Cambodia. Huawei "Seeds for Future” program had cultivated more than 100 students from Cambodia since 2016. Huawei also have technical trainings for the public, covered more than 3000 ICT talents. Furthermore, Huawei Cambodia is going to implement a 3 years 10,000 ICT Talent Cultivation Plan.

Mr. Kim Jin, director of Huawei Digital Power Marketing APAC, joined the session online and emphasized the governmental policy playing a crucial role in contributing to the green environment. Mr. Kevin Lin, senior manager of Huawei Digital Power Marketing APAC gave an overall introduction on Huawei Digital Power and Carbon Neutrality Trends and Insights Energy transformation. Paris Agreement promotes carbon neutrality into a global development consensus. Nearly 200 countries submitted Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for greenhouse gas reduction to advance the global carbon neutrality target, such as China commitment to reach carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutral by 2060. Cambodia government also targets to reduce the CHG emissions 18% by 2030. The mission of Huawei Digital Power is to be the best partner for a better, greener future.

Mr. Edward Hua, CEO of Huawei Cambodia Digital Power Business, introduced on the overall Huawei Digital Power Solutions: Smart Photovoltaic (PV), Site Power, Data Center, mPower and embedded power. Huawei Smart PV targets all the solar scenario: covering from utility-scale solar plant, commercial & industrial rooftop solar, residential rooftop solar to island off-grid solar power station. Huawei Site Power promotes network carbon neutrality and to eliminate energy gap such as reducing the usage of fuel. Huawei Smart Modular Data Center highlights the concepts: simple, green, smart and reliable. Huawei mPower solution focus on Smart EV Charging Station. Huawei Digital Power Solutions are focusing on the efficiency, safety, reliable and smart maintenance.

H.E. Choup Paris appraised Huawei innovative solutions and social responsibility practices. He hopes that Huawei could continuously support on the sustainable development of Cambodia. Mr Sovann Yao, CEO of Huawei Cambodia, appreciated distinguished H.E. Choup Paris and team members visiting Huawei, and responded that it’s Huawei’s nature and responsibility to serve the Kingdom, as a Cambodian company.
