Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 22 – Dr. Li Ailan, WHO representative to Cambodia, praised the Royal Government of Cambodia’s effective COVID19 control and considered the kingdom’s reopening plan a good news.

She spoke at the handover of 124,800 doses of Sinovac vaccine donated by the COVAX Facility to Cambodia at Phnom Penh International Airport on Friday.

Li Ailan said that Cambodia has done a great job in combating COVID19 and Cambodia is also one of the leading countries in the Asia-Pacific region in vaccinating the population, especially vulnerable people and frontline officials.

She added that vaccinating vulnerable people enables Cambodia to ensure good public health, which paves way for the reopening of socio-economic activities.

"I have learned that the government is planning to reopen the economy, and it is a good news,” she underlined.

Ailan said that once we reopen, we must have clear risk management to avoid a new wave of the COVID19 outbreak. This is a good time for Cambodia to set up a management system and live the new normal.

She also commended the Royal Government of Cambodia for its great leadership in the fight against COVID19.
