Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 25 – The draft law on the constitutional amendment and related laws to determine a single citizenship for Cambodian top leaders have been adopted by the National Assembly in the plenary session held on Monday.

The plenary session of the National Assembly was chaired by president of the National Assembly Heng Samrin, with the participation of 111 members. Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen also attended the session.

Article 19 (new), 82 (new), 106 (new) (1), 119 (new), and 137 (new) of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Cambodia; and the Articles 3 and 4 of the Additional Constitutional Law to ensure the normal functioning of national institutions have also been approved.

The laws ensure that the Kingdom’s top leaders, who serve as the president of the Senate, the president of the National Assembly, the prime minister, and president of the Constitutional Council are loyal to the country and people; and also aim to prevent Cambodia from foreign interferences.
