Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 27 — At the 22nd ASEAN-Republic of Korea Summit held via video conference on 26 October 2021, Cambodian premier Hun Sen said he is pleased that the Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA) has just been signed today (26 October).

“I strongly believe that this Free Trade Agreement will be an important driving force to promote trade and investment flows between Cambodia and the Republic of Korea (ROK),” he underlined.

Cambodia also welcomed president Moon Jae-in’s initiative to enhance cooperation in the field of public health, especially the fight against COVID19, through the implementation of the ASEAN-ROK Health Dialogue Channel.

“On behalf of the people and the Royal Government of Cambodia, I would like to express my gratitude to the people and government of the ROK for various assistances in the fight against COVID19,” he said.

In boosting trade and investment between ASEAN and the ROK, as well as revitalizing an inclusive economic growth, Cambodia has already adopted the Third Protocol to Amend the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Agreement (AKFTA) and would like to encourage other ASEAN Member States to speed up internal procedures to expedite the adoption of this Protocol.
