Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 4 – Cambodian Justice Ministry issued guidelines on the principles to be followed in the prosecution, judicial inquiries and trial stages to expedite proceedings of the cases that contribute to resolve overcrowding in prisons.

“The Ministry of Justice observed that in the past one year and one month, the Capital and Provincial Courts have carefully and responsibly implemented the guidelines in all three stages of the court proceedings. As a result, both congested criminal cases and new criminal cases were quickly handled by the courts in accordance with legal procedures and contributed to reducing overcrowding to some extent.”
