Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 16 - Mar Yarith, president of the Fresh News Training Center (FTC), said that writing body paragraph in news articles should not include any irrelevant content or phrases as it can confuse the audiences and mislead the purpose of the articles.

Mar Yarith spoke at a training organized by Fresh News Training Center (FTC) on 13 November 2021.

"Some news articles cover everything provided by the source and that can confuse the audiences. Journalists should cut out any irrelevant part and keep it precise,” said Yarith.

Body paragraph gives more explanation and details about the lead and background of the story.

"If the speech or the report or the document has a significant point other than the one being written, it should be considered as a new topic and added with its relevant details,” he added.

Mar Yarith is a local veteran journalist, who has been working in the field of journalism for over 30 years. He has worked for various well-known foreign news agencies such as UPI, AP and VOA.

Yarith was also the founder and co-founder to several media outlets in Cambodia. Back then, he was the only Cambodian student majoring in journalism at the University of Michigan and the University of Maryland in the United States.
