Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 16 – Cambodian National Assembly president Heng Samrin spoke at 11th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP11) under the theme “Strengthening parliamentary partnership for peace and sustainable development in the Era of COVID19 and beyond”, held virtually on Tuesday.

"I would also like to congratulate the three panels for their discussions in exchanging ideas aimed at strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and partnerships to address global issues including peace and security, terrorism, trade and technological competition, climate change, natural resources security —— especially the Water, Energy and Food-Security Nexus — and social and gender equality as well as your tireless efforts to combat the COVID19 pandemic and the socio-economic recovery and joint cooperation to resolve common problems in both regions and the world as a whole,” the president said.

"The meeting has agreed on and supported key and prioritized strategies for an inclusive, stronger and more resilient socio-economic recovery to cope with unexpected issues in the future. In this regard, one of the top priorities is to make sure that each and everyone is fully vaccinated. The meeting also highlighted the broad spectrum of partnerships between the two regions in strengthening cooperation in various key sectors, including green cooperation, digital cooperation, regional connectivity, and healthcare systems," he underlined.

"The ASEP11 Declaration, which was unanimously adopted by the 2nd plenary session, is the only key outcome document to be presented to leaders at the upcoming 13th Asia-Europe Summit, which will be held on November 25-26, during which the special messages of citizens from both regions will be taken into consideration for further discussion and subsequent implementation," president added
