Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 17 – At least 15 Afghan refugees, who are employees of the Asia Foundation and their families, arrived Cambodia on 17 November 2021.

“The government has prepared temporary accommodations for the refugees before they are granted asylum by a third country,” Ministry of Interior’s senior official confirmed to Fresh News on Wednesday.

These refugees come to Cambodia based on humanitarian principles, following a Cambodian government decision in August 2021, after Afghanistan was led by Taliban on 15 August 2021.

A working group has been set up to provide temporary stay for those refugees having secretary of state of the Interior Ministry Sok Phal as chairman, and director general of the General Department of Immigration Kirth Chantharith as permanent deputy director.
