Moscow (FN), Nov. 19 – Cinemas of the Russian capital city of Moscow and other Russian cities started on 18 November 2021 screening the narrative film “Sky” which sheds lights on the Syrian-Russian cooperation on fighting terrorism in Syria and documents the story of, Oleg Peshkov, the Lieutenant-Colonel of the Russian Air Force who was martyred after his Su-24 was shot down by Turkey in Syria’s sky on 24 November 2015.
Russian film Mission "Sky" is based on a true story of heroism during the Syrian war, which took place in 2015. Lieutenant colonel Oleg Soshnikov and captain Konstantin Muravyov are deployed to Khmeimim air base in Syria. During a combat flight, their Su-24 is shot down. Both pilots eject after the aircraft is hit, but only one of them returns home alive.
The film was shot with the support of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and is included in the list of films that must be watched in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
