Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 23 – Fresh News CEO Lim Chea Vutha and heads of other 187 media outlets around the world attended the 4th World Media Summit (WMS) via a hybrid meeting in Beijing on 22 November 2021.

For Cambodian media outlets, besides Fresh News, the AKP, CC-Times and Khmer Times also attended the summit.

At the Summit, keynote speakers highlighted key issues related to the fight against fake news as well as the participation and contribution to fighting COVID19.

WMS was started jointly by a group of world-renowned media organizations in 2009. These include the Xinhua News Agency, the Associated Press, Reuters, TASS, Kyodo News and more.

The first WMS was held on 8-10 October 2009 in Beijing, with a participation of approximately 300 representatives from 170 media outlets from 70 countries and regions.

The second WMS was held on 5-7 July 2012 in Moscow, Russia, with a participation of approximately 300 representatives from 200 media outlets from 100 countries and regions.

The third WMS was held on 20-21 March 2016 in Doha, Qatar, with a participation of approximately 350 representatives from 100 countries and regions.
